The Inspector General is a satirical play by the Russian and Ukrainian dramatist and novelist Nikolai Gogol. Mr. Daniel Irrizary, a New York based artist, directed this play at the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai. In a scene where he gave Tanvi freedom to express her untold emotions, she chose this excerpt from a varnam as dedication to her mother tongue, Kannada. Though the majority of the audience may not have understood the lyrics of the song, they seem to have grasped the emotion as indicated by the applause soon after.
